Jason Knight
Jason was elected President in 2024 after serving as Deputy President (2013-2023) and Executive Chairman (2019-2023).
He previously served as Operations Director (2006–2013), Development Director (2000–2004) and an Under-23 Rep on the former State Executive (1997–1998). Jason joined Boys’ Brigade at the age of eight and was awarded The Queen’s Badge in 1992. He has held various leadership roles at local, regional, and state levels, including leader and Captain of the former 2nd Ipswich, a leader in 1st Rockhampton, President of the former West Moreton Group Council, Secretary of the former No.2 Battalion, and staff member of Leadership. He was also Program Director for PAC19 in 2017. He has served as the BBQld Delegate to the BB Australia Council since 2006.
Professionally, Jason is the Head of Primary Operations at King’s Christian College on the Gold Coast. Before moving into management, he taught high school Business and Accounting and was a Head of Department and Head of Year.
He is an active member of CrossLife Baptist Church on the northern Gold Coast, serving as the KidsChurch Ministry Leader at the Upper Coomera Campus.
He has been married to Lisa since 2009 and is the father of two.
Deputy President [top]
Aaron Palmer
Aaron was elected Deputy President in 2009, having previously served as Under-23 Rep (1998–1999) on the former State Executive.
He has been the 4th Logan Captain for over 25 years. Aaron joined Boys’ Brigade at the age of eight and was awarded The Queen’s Badge in 1994. Since being commissioned as an Officer in 1996, he has been an active part of the Movement in Queensland – serving as Secretary and later President of the former No.2 Battalion. He was also on the staff of Leadership from 1996 to 2001. Aaron maintains a long-term commitment to PA Camps, including serving as Assistant Camp Director at PAC19 in 2017.
Professionally, Aaron works in quality and manufacturing for a high-level electronic systems company. He is also a trainer in high reliability soldering and a licensed electrician.
A long-term member of St John’s Lutheran Church and serves in various capacities within church life.
Aaron has been married to Leah for 23 years.
Executive Chairman [top]
Anthony Campling
Anthony was elected as a Deputy President in 2024 and subsequently appointed by the Board as BB Queensland’s Executive Chairman.
His election to this dual role followed a lengthy tenure as Operations Director from 2015 to 2023. He has been the 13th Brisbane Captain since 2002.
Growing up in Boys’ Brigade in Cairns, he was awarded The Queen’s Badge in 1993 before moving to Rockhampton in 1994 and becoming a leader in 1st Rockhampton. He has served in various capacities at both Battalion and State levels.
Anthony has worked for Telstra since 1996 and is currently employed as a Product Owner.
An active member of Keperra Baptist Church, he serves in multiple roles, including the Music and Sound Teams.
Married to Sarah, he is the father of four teenage children.
Development Director [top]
Andrew Johanson
Andrew has been our Development Director since his election in 2023.
He is currently a leader at 6th Ipswich, following a time as Captain of both 6th Ipswich and, prior to that, the former 1st Ipswich. At a regional level, Andrew has been actively involved in Cunningham Battalion for many years. Additionally, he was employed for three years as BB Queensland’s Field Worker.
He is the Southern Agronomy Manager and National
Sustainability Manager for Mulgowie Farming Company.
He is married to Fiona, and they have two sons.
Operations Director [top]
David Spink
David was elected Operations Director in 2024, following a year as Training Director in 2023.
A leader at 3rd Caboolture, he serves in the Seniors Section. He has also been involved with several Companies in Queensland and New South Wales. He has served as the Admin Officer for No.3 Brisbane Battalion for several years.
David is a High School teacher with over 30 years of experience in education,
particularly in Education Queensland schools and with a focus on staff well-being.
He enjoys traveling with his wife and is committed to serving the community, including his role as Chairperson of a large strata complex for the past eight years.
He is married to Narelle and has one adult son.
