We often look past what’s already in our hand. When it comes to connecting with families and bringing boys into BB, it’s easy to overthink, over‑plan, and feel overwhelmed. We pour time and energy into strategies that stretch our resources, when the most effective tools are usually the simplest ones — the people, relationships, and opportunities God has already placed around us.
How did you hear about BB?
For my family, it started with cousins. My boys joined after hearing about BB from them. Then Jacob invited a friend from school. A friend of mine decided to send her three boys. My sister and her neighbour brought their boys too. That’s eight kids added to our Company—just through word of mouth!
And if you want to look beyond that, with the boys now grown and out of Company, three family members are all continuing their involvement as leaders. One invitation didn’t just bring boys into BB — it built a legacy of service.
If you think back to the days when Jesus walked the earth, word of mouth was the fastest way to spread news. As the buzz grew about a man who taught with authority, healed the sick, and performed miracles, crowds followed Him everywhere. They were in awe of His words and His works.
It’s no surprise that BB grows the same way. Kids invite kids. Mums talk to mums. Word of mouth is still our most powerful tool.

So, what’s in your hand?
Jesus used loaves and fish—small, humble items—to feed thousands. Your boys and parents are your loaves and fish. Whether you have five boys or fifty, each one knows someone they could invite to BB. But just like the loaves and fish, they remain ordinary until you equip them and give them the opportunity to be part of something miraculous.
And right now, we have a perfect opportunity in front of us: Big Fun Week.
Big Fun Week isn’t just an event on the calendar. It’s a ready‑made moment for your boys to invite their friends, for parents to spread the word, and for your Company to open its doors wide. A simple invitation could be the spark that brings a new family into the Brigade story. What’s in your hand? A fun night, a few photos, and a room full of boys who already love BB — and God can multiply it.
Here are some practical ways to activate your best marketing team—your people:
🛠️ Equip Your Church
- Promote BB in your church newsletter, announcement slides, prayer meetings, and social media—both internal and public-facing.
- Put up banners on church property to let the community know BB is active.
- Ensure posters and flyers are visible in the church foyer for curious parents and visitors.
🤝 Share the Load
- Find someone—a team member, parent, or helper—who can be your go-between. They can pass on photos, updates, and help spread the word.
📣 Use BBQLD Resources
- Tap into radio ads, social media templates, and printed materials provided by BBQLD to support your outreach.
- And of course, make the most of Big Fun Week—a simple, high‑energy way to help your boys invite their mates and grow your Company.
